  Communitech is a member-based association driving the growth and success of Waterloo Region's tech sector through a vibrant network of leadership, connections and promotion.
  
  Established in 1997, the original mandate of the organization was to support the needs of a handful of tech companies that comprised the tech cluster that began in the 1980s. With innovation, commercialization and support, that handful has expanded to 450 tech companies employing almost 20,000 people - and the numbers are growing.
